Job Description:

KONE Technology and Innovation (KTI) is where the magic happens at KONE. It's where we combine the physical world - escalators and elevators - with smart and connected digital systems. We are changing and improving the way billions of people move within buildings every day. We are on a mission to expand and develop new digital solutions that are based on emerging technologies.

KONE R&D brings together top talent from different disciplines into an industry-leading product and technology organization. We thrive in solving complex customer challenges, connecting legacy with the latest technologies, across hardware and software engineering. In fact, roughly half of our R&D roles are in software. Agile ways of working mean that we are better able to meet our customers' rapidly evolving needs for speed and innovation, in a global environment.

We are now looking for a

Summer Trainee, System simulations

You will be part of System simulation team in Hyvinkää, Finland. Work is done mainly in the office so it requires presence at Hyvinkää; remote option is partially available based on agreement.

We are looking for a student with ongoing studies in Applied Mechanics, Mechatronics, Solid Mechanics or closely related fields, to work for 3-4 months between May and September 2026, based on availability and preference.

Key responsibilities
* Develop, refine, and enhance physics-based simulation models of elevator systems.
* Process, analyze, visualize, and document simulation results.
* Plan tests and analyze test data to validate simulation models.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams for input and feedback on simulation processes.

In order to be successful in this role, you preferably have experience with:
Simulation Modeling:
* Experience with finite element - for example Abaqus, Radioss or other finite element software for mechanic or acoustic environment.
* Ability to understand and apply the principles of simulation languages.
Data Analysis and Visualization:

3D CAD Software:
* Experience with any 3D CAD software to generate inputs for simulation models.
Mechatronics and Systems Knowledge:
* Understanding of the integration between software, electrical, mechanical and acoustical systems. Understanding machine dynamics is an asset.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
* Familiarity with simulation result documentation and technical reporting.
* Basic knowledge of elevator systems or similar mechanical systems is a plus.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
