Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We're looking for a Debt Capital Markets Intern to join our Corporate Debt Capital Markets (EMEA) team in Frankfurt.
This internship offers hands-on exposure to the origination and execution of bond transactions for leading investment-grade corporates, working closely with experienced professionals across Europe and global hubs.

In this role you will be responsible for:
* Supporting the origination and execution of primary bond issuances across EUR, USD and adjacent markets
* Monitoring bond and credit market developments and contributing to daily market updates
* Assisting in the preparation of client presentations, pitchbooks and pricing materials

For you to succeed in the role, you'll need to have:
* Strong interest in capital markets, particularly bonds and credit markets
* Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and a proactive mindset
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Position Description

About this role:
As part of SMBC's Corporate Debt Capital Markets (EMEA) team, this internship supports the bank's growing footprint in the European investment-grade bond market. The role works closely with DCM originators, syndicate, sales & trading and other international corporate and investment banking teams to deliver tailored financing solutions to corporate clients across multiple sectors.
You will interact with stakeholders across Frankfurt, London, Paris, New York, Tokyo and other global locations.

Our role will enable you to:
* Gain end-to-end exposure to the bond issuance process, from origination to execution
* Contribute to relative value analysis and pricing discussions for senior and subordinated hybrid bonds
* Prepare market and transaction materials used in live client discussions
* Support senior team members across deal flow and ongoing client coverage

What will you bring to the role?
* Currently studying finance, economics, business or a related discipline
* Solid understanding of financial markets; prior exposure to DCM, investment banking or capital markets is advantageous
* Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel
* Availability for ideally 6 months starting anytime in the second half of 2026
