Intern - Quantitative Portfolio Management/Fixed Income (f/m/d)

The Advanced Fixed Income team of Allianz Global Investors is offering 6 to 12 months internships starting in April 2026. We are looking for forward-thinking and results-oriented final year Master or Ph.D. student (f/m/d). This position will be based in our Frankfurt office.

What you will do

* Support the Advanced Fixed Income team and portfolio managers in daily investment tasks
* Analyze financial markets using technical and data analysis skills
* Assist in the data value chain: gather new data, clean and structure data, create descriptive statistics, analyze data, and use data as model inputs
* Apply econometric models and machine learning methodologies to support systematic investment processes
* Contribute to the development of a systematic investment model for global government bonds
* Integrate and visualize macroeconomic data into proprietary data infrastructure
* Forecast inflation using state-of-the-art machine learning tools
* Perform ad hoc tasks on fixed income instruments such as bonds and derivatives.

What you bring

* Master student in a quantitative and/or analytical discipline e.g., Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, …
* Being data driven and programming affine
* Interest in understanding/exploring the financial markets, particularly at the intersect between fixed income, economics, and empirical econometrics
* Strong knowledge and practical experience in using Python, or equivalent for data analysis
* Solid understanding of GitHub as well as SQL is also necessary
* Ability to use Microsoft Copilot, with a strong commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices
* Solid understanding of statistics as well as macro- and econometrical models
* Basic understanding of Machine Learning tools e.g. random forest, gradient-boosted trees, support vector machine is useful
* Very good English (at least C1) communication skills
* You are organized, self-motivated and able to work independently with a high reliability
* Ability to work in a dynamic environment as a team player.
