Duties and Responsibilities
Organizational Context The Sustainable Livelihoods Unit within UNRWA's RSS Department is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that expand access to socioeconomic pathways out of poverty and enhance the economic self-reliance and resilience of Palestine refugees. The team is engaged in designing transformative livelihoods programming, forming partnerships, and supporting fundraising and project development efforts in Jordan and Syria. Objective of the Internship The internship provides a valuable opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in livelihoods project design, resource mobilization, stakeholder management, partnership development and research in contexts affected by fragility, conflict, and displacement. Duties and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Advisor - Sustainable Livelihoods, the intern will: * Support drafting project proposals, concept notes and donor briefs. * Conduct desk reviews and background research on relevant sectors (e.g., green economy, youth employment, informal markets). * Assist in mapping funding opportunities and compiling donor profiles. * Help organize internal and external consultations, workshops, and partnership-building events. * Contribute to the development of communication materials such as presentations, infographics, case studies, and reports. * Provide support in developing logical frameworks, indicators, and budget narratives for new initiatives. * Maintain the team's document repository and support basic data entry, tracking, and formatting of programmatic tools. * Support other tasks related to programme design, resource mobilization, and knowledge management, as required or based on the selected intern's interests. On completion of the internship, the candidate will have gained: * Hands-on experience, guidance and practical feedback on writing project proposals, outreach materials, and research reports. * Enhanced skills in donor prospecting and engagement. * A deeper understanding of the UN System, early recovery, refugee issues, and the Humanitarian Development Peace (HDP) nexus. * Excellent knowledge of UNRWA, its mandate, structure, and operation mode. * Professional reference letter and professional writing samples for inclusion in a career portfolio.

Qualifications/special skills
* Strong writing, research, and communication skills in English. Arabic is an asset. * Experience (academic or volunteer) in development or humanitarian programming is desirable. * Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and PowerPoint); knowledge of data visualization tools or Canva is a plus. * Solid time management, organization, collaboration, and intercultural teamwork skills. Analytical and conceptual thinking. * Strong interest in some or all of the following areas: refugee services, human rights, sustainability, climate change adaptation, economic inclusion, value chain development, and economic development in the MENA region. Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a Master's degree in International Development, Public Policy, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Languages
Fluency in English & working knowledge of Arabic is preferred
