Job Description
Get to Know the Team
The AV Integrations & Deployments (AVID) team is the bridge between Grab and the future of mobility. We build the integration services, operational tools, and fleet management portals that connect Grab with a diverse fleet of autonomous vehicles (AVs). Our mission is to make Grab the indispensable operating partner for AV fleets in Southeast Asia. We deal with large-scale telemetry ingestion, real-time monitoring, and safety workflows, ensuring that hybrid human-robot fleets can operate safely and reliably at scale.
Get to Know the Role
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will work with our senior engineers and the Engineering Manager to build the foundational technology for AV integration. This isn't just a "shadowing" role; you will contribute to production-level code that helps manage real-world autonomous fleets. You will help develop the APIs and tools that allow global AV partners to plug into the Grab ecosystem.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
* Support Platform Development: You will help build standardised APIs and partner dashboards that facilitate seamless communication between AV providers and Grab.
* Data & Telemetry: You will help develop and increase telemetry ingestion pipelines to process real-time data from autonomous vehicles, contributing to better fleet monitoring and vehicle uptime.
* Tooling for Operations: You will create internal tools and features for the fleet management portal including depot workflows, intelligent fleet positioning and charging, scheduling and fleet maintenance.
* Safety & Reliability Support: You will ensure high safety standards in AVs, implementing monitoring scripts and automated tests that align with safety standards (like ISO 26262), ensuring our deployments are rock-solid.
* Documentation & Research: You will help codify best practices for AV fleet operations by documenting technical workflows and researching industry trends in hybrid fleet management
Candidate Requirements:
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
* Currently pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
* Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Go, Java, or Python) and a solid understanding of RESTful APIs.
* Strong interest in distributed systems, large-scale data processing, or IoT/telemetry systems.
* You are curious about how autonomous vehicles work and are eager to solve complex "real-world" problems at the intersection of hardware and software.
* Demonstrate the ability to coordinate across multiple internal and external teams, ensuring project understanding when managing several workstreams at once.
* Bonus: Familiarity with Cloud services (AWS/Azure), React (for dashboards), or an interest in functional safety standards
