FLEXIBLE: This internship role is scheduled to be flexible. Please be prepared to spend part of your time working remotely and part of your time working from the following location: 393 E. Walnut St., Pasadena, 91188.

Job Summary

This position provides analytical support to a project or department. Under the guidance of a Project Manager/ Director, responsible for collecting and researching data, performing analysis, providing recommendations and presenting results.

Department Description

The Regional Telehealth and Technology Integration team is part of the Care Transformation Organization within the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. Our team works on a variety of Telehealth and Technology related initiatives that contribute to improving care delivery, clinician and member experience, and overall organizational effectiveness. Some of our work is onsite, such as initiatives to assist in the opening of new or refurbished medical office buildings, while other work is completed remotely. As a regional department, we interact with many cross functional teams at various levels in the organization. Although our primary program support is consistent, we routinely adjust to meet the evolving requirements of the organization.

Project Description

The Regional Care Transformation Operations Intern will gain broad exposure to a variety of important projects that impact our clinicians and members related to both Technology Integration and Telehealth. The intern will assist in the project planning phases to open new Next Generation Medical Office Buildings and/or remodel existing spaces with the latest technology. During the implementation phase, there will be opportunities to observe and contribute to the training of local staff and physicians and assist with mock simulations. Additionally, the intern will support Regional Telehealth Operations with opportunities to help increase the volume and success rate of video visits in Southern California. The intern will learn about ambient AI scribes and their impact on clinical practice while helping to drive adoption and utilization. They will assist with creation of presentations, job aids, and other materials to ensure that our physicians and members have the necessary information to successfully utilize various technologies. This internship sits at the crossroads of many local, regional, and national projects and provides the intern with the chance to evaluate where they envision working within Kaiser Permanente or another large healthcare system.

We are seeking an individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills who enjoys working with a diverse group of stakeholders. Those with previous experience with large trainings and/or effective dissemination of information would be well-suited for this position. Comfort with technology and troubleshooting is required along with general flexibility, as the nature of the work changes from week to week.

Essential Responsibilities

* Responsible for contributing high level analytical support to a project or department requiring application of knowledge in marketing, information management, finance, management, economics or statistics.
* This position contributes to a full range of project components.
* Assigned to at least one project and expected to produce results and report out as a member of a project team.
* Organizes assigned project tasks, identifies and structures information collection activities, and sets timelines for completion of required tasks as directed.
* Develops tools to identify and to document best practices.
* Prepares various excel, word or PowerPoint reports, and works with access database software (or similar tool) to develop data extracts and management information reports.
* May be asked to produce graphic information using excel or PowerPoint or similar software.
* Contributes to development of management information and analysis conducted, provides recommendations and assists with preparation of formal presentations to communicate results to various management levels. Identifies alternative solutions to project issues.
* Contributes to development project plans to ensure timely deliverables and successful completion of project and demonstrates an understanding of various business intersections.
* Assists with identification and development of training information.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree required.
* Enrolled in or recent graduate of a MBA or other Masters level program with an accredited college or university.

* Solid analytical skills, problem solving, project management and critical thinking.
* Strong project management skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to utilize at a working level Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
* Must be able to work in a Labor/ Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge of SQL or SAS highly desirable
