Site Reliability Engineer

Introduction

IBM Cloud platform combines platform as a service (PaaS) with infrastructure as a service
(IaaS) to provide an integrated experience. The cross functional IBM Cloud Analytics team
leverages IBM Cloud Services to extract, transform and load data across the enterprise to
provide a unified data backend to internal clients.

Your role and responsibilities

As an automation focused Site Reliability Engineer in our internal cloud analytics team, you will work on the following tasks:
* Monitor and maintain the health of production systems
* Configure and maintain network configurations to access data in the enterprise network from our automated cloud processes
* Automate compliance scans and risk mitigation
* Develop and maintain our deployment pipelines
* Develop automation tools to improve operational efficiency
* Collaborate with software engineers to design and implement reliable systems
* Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to improving alerting and observability
* Document processes, runbooks, and best practices

Required education
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred education
Master's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
* Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (ideally Tekton, GitHub actions, can be Jenkins)
* Familiarity with scripting languages (Ideally Python and Node.js, may include Bash)
* Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn
* Understanding of Linux/Unix systems and networking

Preferred technical and professional experience

* Exposure to cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure)
* Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
* Knowledge of Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
* Experience with security and compliance standards
* Internship or project experience in DevOps, SRE, or system administration
