Job Description:

Job Description & Summary

* Language: German B2-C1 (must) + English B2-C1 (must)
* Location: Bratislava (Hybrid) - support German-speaking clients on international teams
* Team: Technology Consulting (Financial Services projects)

Join PwC's growing Data & AI consulting team supporting German-speaking clients on complex transformation project. We're hiring a German-Speaking Data Engineer to build and run modern data pipelines and platforms-while also contributing to two key focus areas within the project: data quality engineering (rules, monitoring, tooling) and data governance implementation (stewardship/ownership, metadata, compliance, tool adoption). This is a client-facing role combining hands-on engineering with structured problem-solving and clear communication.

As a Data Engineer, you will design, implement, and operate scalable data pipelines on modern data platforms. Beyond core engineering delivery, you'll help ensure data is trusted and reusable by embedding quality controls and supporting governance practices that meet enterprise and regulatory expectations.

Your main responsibilities will be:

* Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations across structured and semi-structured sources
* Develop and optimize transformations on modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar)
* Partner with engineering and business stakeholders to deliver reliable datasets for analytics, reporting, and AI use cases
* Ensure operational readiness: monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of pipeline performance and stability
* Within Data Quality focus, implement data quality checks and monitoring, defining rules and KPIs/metrics, and work with data quality tooling/frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, Soda, Ataccama, Informatica, or similar)
* Support reporting/dashboarding around data quality trends and remediation progress
* Within Data Governance focus, support implementation of governance practices such as stewardship/ownership models, metadata discipline, and policy alignment, and drive or support adoption of governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar)

Candidate Requirements:

* Strong hands-on Data Engineering experience (pipelines, transformations, integrations, production mindset)
* Experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar)
* Practical exposure to data quality and/or data governance in enterprise environments (one can be stronger than the other)
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills-able to translate technical topics into business language
* German B2-C1 and English C1 professional proficiency, used in a client-facing or cross-functional environment
* Structured, analytical, proactive mindset with a solution-oriented approach

Nice to Have

* Direct experience with data quality tooling (Great Expectations, Soda, Ataccama, Informatica)
* Direct experience with governance tooling (Collibra, Alation, Informatica) and tool adoption/onboarding
* Interest or exposure to AI-enabled approaches in data quality/governance
* Experience working in regulated industries (banking/insurance/financial services)

What we offer:

* Work on impactful German-speaking client projects in modern data engineering
* Build highly transferable skills across data platforms, quality, and governance
* Be part of a new and growing team, with avenues for career advancement and development.
* Flexible working arrangements, including travel to Prague or Germany for collaboration and training.
* Join a robust team that values independence and teamwork in a collaborative setting.
* Engage with the latest technological solutions that drive financial consulting forward.
