Job Description:

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.
We are looking for a Talented Project Manager to join one of our major Defence programmes based in Farnborough. You will play a key role in delivering complex, high-profile projects that support critical national infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a secure environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to drive high-quality outcomes in line with Mace's mission to redefine the boundaries of ambition.
Note: Due to the nature of this Defence project, candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance (SC). Existing SC clearance is highly desirable.
You'll be responsible for:
* Managing the day-to-day delivery of a live M&E design and build construction project (£10m+), acting as client-side PM through to completion.
* Leading contractor activities, design coordination, and resolving technical queries to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Managing project performance across schedule, cost, risk, and progress reporting, including dashboards and stakeholder updates.
* Supporting governance and assurance activities, including gateway reviews and programme board submissions.
* Maintaining accurate project information, systems, and records (including CEMAR and internal management systems)
* Liaising closely with internal and external stakeholders, including operating within a fully occupied building environment requiring careful coordination.
* Translating project schedules and construction activities into clear, actionable communications for building users (e.g. access, space utilisation, disruptions)
* Supporting the Lead PM in validation of project outputs including financials, schedules, and contractor deliverables.
* Managing change control processes and maintaining approved baselines.
* Promoting collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across the project team.
* Championing safety, quality, sustainability, and compliance throughout delivery.
You'll need to have:
* Hybrid working 4 days per week based onsite in Farnborough (Cody Technology Park)
* Active SC clearance.
* Strong experience as a client-side Project Manager on live construction projects, ideally within M&E design and build environments (£10m+ value)
* Proven experience administering NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4) using CEMAR, with appropriate accreditation preferred.
* Experience operating in secure, public sector or defence environments with complex stakeholder landscapes.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, particularly within live/occupied environments.
* Ability to clearly communicate technical project information to non-technical audiences.
* Strong understanding of construction and design processes across RIBA stages.
* Relevant qualification (Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent) in construction, project management, or related discipline.
* Membership (or working towards) of a professional body such as APM, RICS, or CIOB.
* Strong organisational and project controls capability, including use of tools such as Microsoft Project.
What's on offer:
* Car allowance.
* Hybrid working.
* Medical health cover.
* Life insurance.
* Income protection insurance.
* Pension scheme.
* Discretionary annual salary reviews.
* Family friendly policies.
* 22 + 2 Mace days + 3 days Xmas shutdown + 1 day every 2 years' service + bank holidays.
