Our Rolling Stock and Customer Service keeps trains running safely and reliably every day. The business delivers expert maintenance, technical support and digital solutions across the full lifecycle of rail fleets, helping customers maximise performance, availability and passenger satisfaction.
We are recruiting for an experienced Planner to join us at Siemens Mobility (RSCS) as a Planning Engineer within the Fleet Planning Team at Basingstoke ROC. Working on a shift basis, this role will be responsible for developing, owning and delivering the operational maintenance plan, ensuring the right information is in place to enable the efficient scheduling and execution of rolling stock maintenance across all Train Maintenance Centres.
You'll make a difference by:
* Developing, maintaining and continually refining short-, medium- and long-term maintenance plans (daily to annual) to support safe, reliable and efficient fleet availability.
* Assessing operational requirements, dispatch needs and defect backlogs to prioritise work in line with contractual, performance, technical and safety requirements, reducing reactive maintenance and improving reliability.
* Creating and optimising maintenance windows, determining available work hours and producing effective work scopes that minimise waste and maximise resource efficiency.
* Collaborating closely with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, contractors and external repair agencies to enable the maintenance plan, implement fleet modifications and manage engineering changes.
* Proactively identifying and resolving material, resource and planning constraints, including material shortages, to protect plan delivery and fleet performance.
* Monitoring KPIs, repeat defects and performance metrics, driving continuous improvement and supporting the delivery of consistent fleet availability while minimising performance penalties.
What you'll need to succeed:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
* Strong knowledge of railway operations and compliance to railway rules and regulations.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think quickly.
* Previous experience in product improvement and reliability engineering on UK rolling stock.
Must haves:
* Previous experience of planning maintenance and production.
* Experience of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) - SAP, Maximo or Equinox.
