Job Description:
As a Data Engineer, you will be applying technical knowledge, skills, and training to design and implement data pipelines and workflows that support data ingestion, transformation, and delivery for business use. As well as ensuring data is captured, stored, and made accessible in a secure, scalable, and reusable manner across the organisation.
You will be looking to understand enterprise data architecture and governance policies to ensure compliance and traceability across datasets.
Core duties:
* Working under general direction, exercising substantial autonomy and discretion in identifying and resolving issues related to data engineering
* Collaborating with colleagues across the data platform, product, and analytics teams to ensure data is accessible and usable for downstream use cases including analytics and AI/ML
* Participates in external activities or industry groups relevant to data engineering and platform design
* Supports continuous improvement in data engineering practices and contributes to team knowledge sharing and innovation
Essential Skills:
* Understanding of modern data engineering principles and the data lifecycle
* Awareness of enterprise data governance, metadata, and quality requirements
* Experience in managing data across on-prem and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, Databricks)
* Understanding of data modelling principles and SQL-based analytics with proficiency in Python
* Experience building pipelines using tools like Apache Spark, Airflow, and Delta Lake
* Experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD processes (e.g. GitLab)
