What this job involves:
As a Business Support specialist in Cash Application, you'll play a vital role in supporting JLL's financial operations across Latin America. This position sits within our regional Controllership team and focuses on the accurate and timely application of client payments to outstanding receivables. You'll be responsible for reviewing incoming payments, reconciling them against invoices, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining the integrity of our accounts receivable records. What your day-to-day will look like:
* Review and validate payments received from clients across the Latin America region, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all remittance information
* Reconcile incoming payments against outstanding invoices in the ERP system, applying cash to the appropriate customer accounts with precision
* Identify and investigate payment discrepancies including overpayments, partial payments, unauthorized discounts, and unapplied cash
* Coordinate with clients and internal stakeholders to resolve differences and clarify payment intentions, maintaining professional communication throughout the process
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts receivable records, including customer information updates and account balance verification
* Support monthly bank reconciliations and accounting close activities, identifying reconciling items and ensuring timely resolution
* Document complex cases and escalate issues appropriately while maintaining detailed records of resolution efforts
* Proactively identify opportunities to improve cash application processes and contribute ideas for operational efficiency
* Collaborate with regional team members to ensure consistent practices and knowledge sharing across the LATAM Controllership function
Required qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or currently enrolled in an undergraduate Accounting program (first years acceptable)
* Strong attention to detail with excellent numerical accuracy and analytical thinking
* Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and accounts receivable management
* Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
* Native or advanced Spanish language skills for regional communication
* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and work under pressure during month-end close periods
* Strong organizational skills with persistence in following up on outstanding items
* Excellent communication abilities for coordinating with clients and internal teams
Preferred qualifications:
* 1-2 years of experience in financial shared services or corporate accounting environments
* Previous experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or bank reconciliation functions
* Basic to intermediate English language skills for communication with regional teams and international clients
* Familiarity with ERP systems and online banking platforms
* Understanding of corporate payment methods including wire transfers and electronic payments
* Knowledge of banking concepts and payment processing workflows
* Demonstrated ability to identify problems and propose process improvements
* Experience working in a multicultural or geographically distributed team environment
