PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The student pharmacist will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain the practical experience that will enable them to meet the needs of patients. The student pharmacist will gain experience in prescription order processing, verbal communication, problem-solving and critical thinking. The successful candidate supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and division/company policy requirements.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Under Pharmacist preceptor supervision and per company policies and procedures, assists with preparation and distribution of products and performs general pharmacy duties as follows:
* Monitors the drug file and prepares prescriptions for packaging and or distribution.
* Counts and fills patient prescription based on order.
* Prepares prescription labels to be placed on dispensing containers.
* Attaches additional information and instructions on the dispensing container, when necessary.
* Presents final dispensed product(s) to pharmacist preceptor for verification and final check.
* Organizes finished products for packing/distribution.
* Helps to ensure that pharmacy area is always clean and orderly.
* May assist in maintaining adequate levels of inventory by ordering drugs, following established procedures.
* Prepares and labels stocked drugs.
* Obtains and enters patient, medical or prescription order data into computer system. Maintains an orderly filing system.
* Escalates issues to pharmacy preceptor for resolution, as deemed necessary.
* Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state, and federal laws, and regulations.
* Assists with various projects as assigned by Pharmacist preceptor
* Other related duties as assigned.

* Ability to both sit and stand for long periods of time

SUPERVISION:
* None
EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:
* Bachelor's degree required, currently pursuing advanced degree in pharmacy
* Licensed as an intern in the state where the student is practicing pharmacy
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
* 0 - 1 year's related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* This team player should possess the ability to work toward established goals independently, pay close attention to detail and communicate effectively with fellow professionals.
* Mail order and/or retail experience helpful.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organizational and analytical skills, above average organizational skills are needed to be successful in this position.
* Proficient with PCs, Microsoft Office Applications, and the ability to quickly learn new programs.
