Job Description

Purpose of the role
Liquid Finance Platform covers a variety of roles and is central to the delivery of best-in-class products and services, and for the provision of strategic client and risk solutions across the full spectrum of the Prime Financing businesses.

Accountabilities
* Working with clients to optimise the Liquid Financing relationship
* Provide best-in-class service and escalation oversight
* Primary contact for Liquid Financing clients in areas such as trading, risk, billing and reporting
* Provide expertise on industry and regulatory initiatives
* Subject matter expert for our clients, with a deep understanding of each client's business mix, operational requirements and product sensitivities

Join us at Barclays in Prime Structuring - Client Returns. The Prime Structuring team seeks to optimise return on capital from financing and trading linked to client activity across Liquid Financing. The team develops financing and collateral solutions for institutional clients (predominantly hedge funds, family offices, sovereign wealth funds and other sophisticated asset managers) and Barclays, in relation to equity and fixed income financing products such as repo, cash prime brokerage, synthetic prime brokerage (swaps) and stock lending arrangements.

In your role you will sit within the 'client returns' pillar, which focuses on improving the return on leverage balance sheet and return on risk weighted assets for Liquid Financing by analysing, engaging and making capital deployment decisions through a client-focused lens. This involves drawing insights from complex data and using expertise in financing markets and capital regulations to engage directly with clients to improve their mix of financing business with Barclays, and optimise their activity. You will be involved with communicating directly with senior salespeople, desk heads and hedge fund executives. As well as focusing on the client returns agenda, this role will provide opportunities to develop and implement strategic solutions for client transactions and optimise the structure of prime brokerage transactions (including repo, swap funding and stock lending) with a consideration for a wide range of factors including rules around dividend distributions, liquidity, net stable funding ratios, bank levy, and cross-border tax/regulatory impacts.

To be successful in Prime Structuring Client Returns you should have:
* A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant academic field
* Ability to breakdown and assimilate detailed information to model the pricing, components, economics and commercial application of financial instruments
* Experience in financial services with proven knowledge of investment banking and financial markets, and an enthusiasm to expand this knowledge further across assets and products
* The ability to communicate complex financial topics clearly and succinctly, with high standards for written communication and presentations

Other skills of value include:
* Understanding of accounting, regulatory (prudential) and legal concepts (helpful but not mandatory)
* Inquisitiveness and desire to develop structuring skillset with application to Prime/Equities/Fixed Income Financing businesses
* Basic quantitative skills, including financial modelling in Excel

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

The role is based out of our Canary Wharf, London office.

This role is deemed as a Certified role under the PRA & UK Financial Conduct Authority - Individual Accountabilities Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks
