Principal Scientist (all genders) - Biology & Assays
As a Senior Scientist Biologics & Antibody Conjugates (all genders), you drive and shape innovative drug discovery projects and help transform cutting-edge science into differentiated medicines. In a highly interdisciplinary and cross-organizational environment, you use your deep expertise in protein biology, biologics and antibody conjugates to design tailored discovery strategies, develop state-of-the-art assays and provide decisive data that move projects from idea to preclinical development candidate.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Initiate, drive and support drug discovery projects as an active member and leader of highly interdisciplinary, cross-organizational teams
* Use expertise in protein biology and biologics to link targets and modalities, define tailored lead finding strategies and develop relevant assay systems to probe target biology
* Identify druggable entry points and mechanisms of action and establish strategies to enable druggability and data-driven decision making
* Design, develop and execute fit-for-purpose biological assays, critically assess key scientific questions and translate results into clear project recommendations
* Collaborate seamlessly with disease biologists, modality experts, drug discovery and computational scientists to create state-of-the-art methods and technologies for complex biological questions
* Provide innovative solutions for antibody conjugates, act as subject matter expert in project teams, and mentor peers in antibody and conjugate lead discovery and optimization
* Build strong interfaces with disease area discovery units and other research functions for candidate screening, characterization, selection and efficient data exchange and decision making
* Generate and secure intellectual property, ensure high safety and compliance standards, and supervise and mentor lab associates, interns and postdocs while managing resources efficiently
WHO YOU ARE
* PhD in chemistry, biochemistry or a related discipline
* Several years of professional experience in small- or large-molecule drug discovery with deep knowledge of the scientific literature and industry practices
* Solid understanding of hit-to-lead and lead optimization processes up to preclinical development candidate
* Proven scientific and project leadership capabilities in cross-functional research environments
* Experience in developing antibody conjugates in cardiovascular/renal, oncology or immunology indications
* Strong understanding of the research landscape and market environment in relevant therapeutic areas
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, pronounced intercultural competence and strong team orientation
* Enjoy working in self-organized teams, taking ownership and accountability for the full value chain
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken
