You will lead the Specialty Medical organisation in Austria and be accountable for the development and execution of local medical strategy across the assigned specialty therapy areas, e.g. respiratory, immunology and inflammation. Reporting to the Country Medical Director, you will provide scientific leadership, ensure excellence in medical governance and people development, and represent the medical function internally and externally.
You will work closely with cross-functional colleagues, regional stakeholders, healthcare professionals, scientific societies and healthcare decision makers to identify unmet medical needs, generate insights and support evidence-based decision making. Through strong leadership, collaboration and execution, you will help shape the future of healthcare and contribute to our mission of uniting science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.
In this role you will
* Lead, coach and develop the Austrian Specialty Medical team, fostering a high-performance culture, talent development and succession planning.
* Develop and execute the local medical strategy in alignment with global and regional priorities and local healthcare needs.
* Build and maintain trusted scientific relationships with clinicians, scientific societies, healthcare decision makers and other key external stakeholders.
* Ensure high-quality, non-promotional scientific exchange, advisory boards, medical education programmes and scientific communications.
* Collect, synthesise and communicate medical insights to inform business strategy, evidence generation and patient-focused initiatives.
* Provide medical leadership for launches, lifecycle management activities and strategic cross-functional projects.
* Oversee local evidence generation activities, including real-world evidence programmes, observational studies and investigator-sponsored research, ensuring scientific excellence and compliance.
* Ensure robust medical governance and compliance oversight across all Specialty Medical activities, maintaining adherence to company policies, local regulations and industry standards.
* Manage and oversee the Specialty Medical budget, ensuring appropriate prioritisation of resources and delivery of agreed objectives.
* Monitor key performance indicators, project progress and organisational priorities, ensuring effective communication and alignment with internal stakeholders.
* Represent Austria in regional and international medical initiatives, working groups and governance forums as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
* Advanced degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences or related discipline (MD, PharmD, PhD, MSc or equivalent).
* Significant Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including strategic leadership responsibilities.
* Strong understanding of medical governance, compliance requirements and the external healthcare environment.
* Proven experience engaging with healthcare professionals, key external experts and scientific organisations.
* Experience developing and executing medical strategies in collaboration with cross-functional and matrix teams.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
* Fluent written and spoken German and English.
* Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

* Experience leading Medical Affairs activities within specialty care therapy areas such as Immunology, Respiratory or other complex disease areas.
* Demonstrated people leadership experience, including line management, coaching and development of scientific or medical professionals.
* Experience managing medical budgets and resource allocation.
* Strong understanding of evidence generation, real-world evidence, health technology assessment and value demonstration.
* Experience supporting launches and lifecycle management of innovative medicines.
* Track record of building high-performing teams and successfully leading organisational change.
* Experience working in regional or international cross-functional environments.
* Strong strategic mindset combined with the ability to translate strategy into operational execution.
