About Your Business Area/Department:
Altea Flight Management (FM) ensures every aircraft stays within safe weight and balance limits by calculating how passengers, cargo, fuel, and baggage affect the center of gravity. It is used by 120+ airlines and 60+ ground handlers worldwide and plays a critical role in flight safety, efficiency, and CO₂ reduction.
We have FM R&D teams across Bangalore, Bogota and London. This role is based in Bogota and will strengthen our two existing FM teams. Our ambition is for Bogota to become one of the key hubs of excellence for FM engineering.
Summary of the role:
You will lead a cross-functional Scrum team (analysts, software engineers, QA engineers) within the Galaxy Express 999 SAFe train, delivering new features, automation and innovation for the FM product.
In this role you'll:
Lead and grow the team
* Create an inclusive, collaborative, high trust environment.
* Support the development of team members through coaching, career paths, and training plans.
* Set objectives, provide continuous feedback, and run performance reviews.
* Drive recruitment to build a balanced, skilled team.
Ensure strong delivery
* Help the team remove blockers and work autonomously.
* Ensure high quality, stable FM features are delivered on time.
* Collaborate with Product, Architecture, RTE, other R&D teams, and Implementation groups.
* Raise the team's engineering excellence and efficiency.
Strengthen engagement and culture
* Share product vision and connect team work to company goals.
* Encourage involvement in engagement and engineering initiatives (Engage, a3E).
* Support talent retention and team motivation.
Shape the future of FM
* Contribute to the FM roadmap, innovation topics, and internship projects.
* Help define the organisation of FM components for long-term success.
* Represent FM within Amadeus and with customers.
* Support our goal of establishing Bogota as a major FM R&D hub of excellence.
About the ideal candidate:
* Degree in Computer Science or similar, or equivalent experience.
* 5+ years in software engineering.
* Experience with Agile/SAFe.
* Management experience.
* Travel IT industry knowledge is a plus.
Business understanding
* Ability to work with complex, large-scale, 24/7 systems.
* Awareness of airline and airport operations and Amadeus processes.
