The Underground Drilling Division within Business Area Mining is an industry leading global provider of drilling equipment for underground mining and tunneling industry with focus on technology development and future innovative solutions to enable sustainable operations for our customers. Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy's Tampere site is a global technology and manufacturing center for Underground Drilling equipment.
We are strengthening our supplier development and quality capabilities and are now looking for a Supplier Development Leader / Supplier Quality Engineer to support our Sourcing organization across multiple categories. The position is permanent and located in Tampere (Myllypuro), Finland.
In this role, you will work broadly across the supplier base, with a clear focus on proprietary electric assemblies, while also supporting other sourcing categories as needed. Prior experience from electrical assembly contract manufacturing is considered a strong advantage. Experience within hydraulic components or powertrain is also seen as beneficial.
Your role and responsibilities
As Supplier Development Leader, you will play a key role in securing supplier performance, quality stability, and continuous improvement across our supply base. You will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop robust processes and long-term capabilities. Your main responsibilities include:
* Ownership and continuous development of Supplier Development and Supplier Quality processes supporting the commercial sourcing categories
* Securing fulfillment of Sandvik Quality requirements, including maintenance of the Supplier Quality Manual and Purchased Material Requirements
* Creating and executing supplier audit plans for new and existing suppliers
* Coordinating internal and external resources to support supplier quality and development activities
* Leading supplier improvement and development projects based on audits, assessments, or performance gaps
* Acting as the main coordinator for critical claim and deviation management
* Creating and maintaining Advanced Quality Plans, such as control plans, for new and existing suppliers
* Providing quality and manufacturability support to Engineering during New Product Development (NPD)
Your background and what we find important
You are a practical, action-oriented quality professional with a strong improvement mindset. You enjoy working close to suppliers, coaching others, and driving sustainable improvements through structured problem solving. You bring:
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a relevant technical field
* Experience from a manufacturing environment, preferably in supplier-facing roles
* Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO), quality methods, and issue-resolution tools
* Experience in leading improvement or supplier development initiatives
* Ability to build strong, trust-based relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
* Willingness to challenge existing practices and drive continuous improvement
* Experience within electric assemblies (such as electrical panels, electrical boards, or similar electromechanical products) is considered a strong advantage.
* Experience from hydraulic components or powertrain-related products is also beneficial.
* Willingness to travel and fluent Finnish and English language skills.
