Good things this way On our redesigned 10-week immersive Summer Internship you'll gain real experience, grow your confidence, and develop the skills and behaviours needed to thrive in a future Early Careers programme such as a 2027 Industrial Placement or Skill Development Programme. 

You'll work within our Mortgage function contributing to impactful work and learning from expert colleagues. You'll also take part in workshops, networking events, and activities designed to accelerate your development.

This internship is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, understand Nationwide's culture and build the foundation for a career that's fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.

Where you'll be working You'll spend the full 10-week programme on-site five days per week at either our Swindon, Northampton or Bournemouth office. This supports immersive learning, strong team integration, and your development into a confident future early-career professional.

To be eligible for this internship You must:
* Be a student with the right to work in the UK
* Be starting your final year of university in September 2026 and available to start a Skill Development Programme in September 2027
* Be available to complete the internship from July through to September 2026

What you'll be doing On our Mortgages Summer Internship, there are two areas to choose from, Strategy & Business Support or Data & Analytics.

Strategy & Business Support (Swindon, Bournemouth or Northampton)

You could be working in:

Business Services

As part of this internship, you could be working within either:
* Our Service Excellence function, to research customer needs.
* Our Change function, shaping and delivering change to systems, products or processes
* Our Colleague Enablement team supporting with internal communications, performance enablement and shaping our Inclusion & Diversity agenda,

Mortgages Distribution & Operations - Contact Centre

You'll join our Mortgage Distribution & Operations Contact Centre team. This team is the first point of contact for customers throughout their mortgage journey - from initial application through to redemption and supports mortgage brokers and solicitors.

You'll build your understanding of the full mortgage lifecycle and support key assignments that help improve the customer experience and drive efficiency within the operation. As part of this work, you'll engage with stakeholders across the business, so strong communication skills and a methodical approach to tackling challenges are essential.

Data and Analytics (Swindon or Bournemouth)

You could be working in:

The Mortgage Works - Product, Policy & Risk

Based within The Mortgage Works (TMW) and Policy & Risk teams, you will build your skills such as trend identification and analysis, reporting and insight creation, experimenting with machine learning and AI to support the development of insight and broader data science. You'll gain exposure to product pricing, performance and planning, policy and risk considerations.

You'll spend time getting to understand areas like: mortgage pricing, learning how we price our products to meet member needs whilst delivering the right commercial return; product development; data and insight; building skills in data analytics to help us protect our customers, ensuring our products and policies meet customer needs, deliver fair outcomes and operate in line with regulations.

Customer Management & Product

Over the 10-weeks, in our Mortgages Customer Management and Nationwide Product teams, you will build your skills such as trend identification and analysis, reporting and insight creation, experimenting with machine learning and AI to support the development of insight and broader data science. You'll gain exposure to product pricing, performance and planning, customer research and process improvement.

You'll spend time getting to understand areas like: mortgage pricing, learning how we price our products to meet member needs whilst delivering the right commercial return; product development, helping us launch new products to meet member needs; data and insight; building skills in data analytics to help us understand our customers better; customer management, ensuring our products meet customer needs, deliver fair outcomes and operate in line with regulations.

Throughout the programme, you will: * Work on meaningful tasks that contribute to your team's goals
* Build baseline technical and professional skills relevant to the function you join
* Take part in structured development activities across the 10-week programme
* Grow your understanding of Nationwide's culture, expectations, and ways of working
* Demonstrate your aptitude, performance, and potential through real tasks and shadowing
