Role Summary
As the Python Automation Engineer Intern, you will support the team in developing, implementing, and validating Python-based test scripts to validate vehicle system functionality and compliance. You will also assist in the maintenance of the overall automation framework. Joining a dynamic team, your core objective is to gain practical experience in ensuring the quality and functionality of vehicle software updates by collaborating closely with various engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Architectural Comprehension
Develop an understanding of the vehicle-level architecture, including its influence on downstream sub-systems. This involves learning about:
* Automotive architecture variations
* In-vehicle communication protocols
* Key Electronic Control Unit (ECU) roles
* ECU interaction
Automated Test Development and Strategy
* Test Strategy & Mapping:
* Assist the team in leveraging requirements, user stories, use cases, and theory of operation to derive comprehensive test cases for system-level tests.
* Help identify and formulate test cases that align with fundamental E/E principles and unique product use cases and designs.
* Software and System Development:
* Assist in the design and implementation of software and systems for automated test frameworks to validate vehicle systems.
* Help create detailed test cases and sequence diagrams based on requirements, and verify their functionality on lab cars or vehicles.
* Assist in implementing test scripts that interact with ECUs using diagnostic protocols (e.g., UDS) to perform system-level checks.
* Actively contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of automated testing solutions.
* Framework Expertise & Collaboration:
* Learn and maintain a working knowledge of the core software frameworks used in daily development.
* Collaborate with design engineers and feature owners to meet assigned task deadlines based on milestones.
Continuous Improvement
* Proactively seek opportunities for enhancing test methodologies, processes, and tools.
* Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in diagnostic testing and automation.
Qualifications
* Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
* Familiarity with or coursework in Python software development.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify and diagnose software defects, and collaborate with the team to resolve issues effectively.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
* Pluses:
* Familiarity with debugging software/hardware issues.
* Exposure to software testing or quality assurance concepts.
* Interest in or coursework related to vehicle communication protocols (like CAN, LIN).
* Familiarity with collaborative development tools (e.g., Git, JIRA).
Pay Disclosure
This is a full-time, paid internship with a monthly salary.
