Location Overview:

Join our bustling Bromley office, situated in one of London's greenest boroughs. Here you'll find plentiful and easy commuting routes, with central London just 15 minutes away by train.

The Team:

The role sits within the Platform Engineering team, a global team of approximately 10 engineers, with leadership based in Dublin.

The team works closely with Risk stakeholders and business partners, supporting critical Market Risk platforms and delivering high-impact projects.

The environment is collaborative, delivery-focused, and technically challenging, offering strong exposure to enterprise-scale systems and strategic transformation initiatives.

Role Description:

We are seeking a Lead Python Engineer to join our Market Risk Technology Platform Engineering team, based in Dublin. This role has been created to support a major cloud migration programme and to strengthen our core engineering capability across critical risk platforms.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and delivering high-performance, data-intensive solutions within a global Market Risk environment. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical expertise with team leadership and delivery ownership.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale transformation initiatives with direct impact on risk and trading systems, collaborating closely with business stakeholders, risk managers, and global technology teams.

Responsibilities:

* Lead the technical delivery of the Sailfish database cloud migration programme
* Architect and design scalable, high-performance solutions for data-intensive risk platforms
* Manage and guide a team of engineers, including work allocation, prioritisation, and technical oversight
* Drive engineering best practices across development, testing, and deployment processes
* Develop and maintain core Python applications within a complex Market Risk ecosystem
* Collaborate with stakeholders across Risk, business, and technology teams
* Identify and resolve complex system and data issues, ensuring platform stability
* Contribute to platform strategy, tooling improvements, and long-term architecture decisions

What we are looking for:

* Extensive experience in Python development within enterprise-scale systems
* Export level SQL and database expertise, including performance tuning and data modelling
* Proven experience leading technical delivery and managing engineering teams
* Experience working with large-scale, data-intensive platforms and complex architectures

Skills that will help:

* Experience in Market Risk or financial services platforms (a distinct advantage)
* Familiarity with Sailfish, DB2, or similar enterprise data platforms
* Experience with cloud migration or modernisation programmes
* Exposure to risk analytics, regulatory systems, or trading platforms
