At Arup we have opportunities for Structural Engineers, who are looking for technically challenging work on cutting-edge projects, to join our established Building Engineering team in Newcastle.

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Structural Engineer with excellent design, technical and sustainability skills to join our team. You will enjoy working collaboratively in multi-professional design teams, working on projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results. Our projects are local, regional, national and international and will allow you to work and succeed in a multi-cultural business environment. Our work focuses on technical buildings for which engineering drives the overall building design. You will be joining a growing team, and will have access to great training, coaching and opportunities for your career development, as well as having the opportunity to work alongside high calibre technicians and engineers of many disciplines.

As a member of the Structural Engineering team, you will be hands-on with the design and delivery of our projects, always seeking to minimise the whole life carbon impact of our designs while achieving client's objectives. You will enjoy working in an interdisciplinary environment with an aim to design buildings that maximise value for our clients whilst minimising their environmental impact. Playing a part in the ever-increasing digital transformation of our business, you will actively seek new ways to increase our efficiency through automation and to offer new services to our clients through our integrated digital approach to design. You will be joining a diverse group of incredibly talented individuals, each on a unique career development journey.

Is this role right for you?

We Are Looking To Speak To People Who

* Be Degree qualified in Civil/Structural Engineering (or similar), preferably Masters or equivalent and working toward Chartership status through IStructE, ICE or other relevant body or completed
* Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship
* Have a wide knowledge of the structural design of buildings, including coordination, spatial planning, buildability and environmental impact. Developing concepts, appraising and recommending
* optimum design solutions.
* A good understanding of industry software packages
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Have experience supervising and providing technical mentorship to Graduate Engineers and Technicians.
* A passion for structural engineering and enthusiasm for a career in design
* Proven success in contributing to a team orientated environment
