About the role

Balfour Beatty are currently recruiting for a Rail Plant Fitter to join our team based at our Singlewell (Henhurst Road) construction base.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a high-performing team supporting the maintenance and reliability of critical rail plant equipment.

In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of rail plant equipment, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance across operations. Working as part of a high-performing team, you'll play a key role in delivering maintenance activities in line with strict safety and technical standards.

What you'll be doing

Monday - Friday 7am-2:30pm.

* Carrying out maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on rail plant equipment including MPVs, RRVs and modules

* Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed in line with company procedures and technical standards

* Diagnosing faults across mechanical and electrical systems

* Completing accurate reports on maintenance, repairs and incidents

* Supporting continuous improvement of equipment reliability and performance

* Working collaboratively as part of a team to meet operational targets

Who we're looking for

* Recognised engineering apprenticeship (ideally electrical or mechanical bias) or HND in engineering.

* Experience within the rail or heavy plant industry preferred but not essential

* Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems

* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

* Good communication and teamwork abilities

* Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards

Desirable:

* PTS, DP, Forklift, LGV Class 2, First Aid or Fire Warden certifications

* Knowledge of PLC or control systems
