JOB TITLE: V2G System Engineer

THE OPPORTUNITY
This role is responsible for defining and delivering systems engineering outputs for Electric Vehicle charging and energy services features. The overall purpose is to ensure robust system design from customer need through to verified vehicle behaviour, working across onboard and offboard boundaries and with external technical partners.
Key Performance Indicators
* Features and systems level requirements authoring.
* Features and systems modeling - Understand feature and system level requirements (functional and non-functional) to define relevant and efficient models, demonstrating how the system satisfies the defined customer requirements (including performance targets achievement).
* Model architecture - Determine the most efficient model architecture to ensure upgradability and reusability.
* System architecture - Support the system team in evaluating multiple system design concepts to enable informed decision making.
* System design specification - Based on feature and system modeling, optimize system requirements specification.
* Lead cross-functional technical reviews on the systems models.
* Adhere to the defined systems engineering process.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
* Contribute to delivering end-to-end feature and system-level documentation for charging and energy services features.
* Deliver work to agreed systems engineering milestones: System Concept, System Design, and System Architecture.
* Translate customer experience into system-level functional requirements.
* Author feature and system-level requirements to satisfy customer use cases, with full traceability through to sub-system.
* Cascade requirements to sub-system engineers and maintain traceability across the full requirements chain.
* Develop functional and logical architectures that correctly allocate behaviour across vehicle, EVSE, cloud, and home energy system boundaries.
* Author feature context and system context diagrams.
* Create Functional Safety and Failure Mode Analysis documentation and Cybersecurity assessments.
* Ensure feature designs conform to relevant charging and energy services standards (ISO 15118, OCPP) and regulatory requirements.
* Operate within an Agile delivery model, contributing to squad workstreams and ceremonies as an active systems engineering team member.
* Trace and manage activities in Jira to ensure delivery commitments are visible and met.
* Collaborate with internal engineering stakeholders across hardware, software, controls, functional safety, and cybersecurity.
* Adhere to agreed systems engineering processes and toolset guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Systems engineering experience in the automotive industry, ideally within electrification, charging, or powertrain domains.
* Strong experience in requirements authoring, decomposition, and traceability across system levels.
* Ability to develop functional and logical architectures and system context diagrams.
* Familiarity with EV charging standards and protocols (ISO 15118, OCPP, or equivalent).
* Experience with requirements management tooling (DOORS, TRM, or equivalent).
* Functional Safety awareness (ISO 26262) and ability to contribute to safety and FMEA documentation.
* Good verbal and written communication skills across cross-functional teams.
* Analytical and structured problem-solving approach.
Desirable:
* Experience with V2G, V2H, or smart charging system design.
* Knowledge of cybersecurity standards applicable to connected vehicle systems.
* Awareness of energy regulation and grid service requirements.
* Experience working in an Agile delivery environment.
