Work Location
Flexible This internship is designed to be in person and full-time. Depending on the situation of the successful candidates, the internship may also be conducted remotely. The work location for the in-person modality is Vienna, Austria.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is the guardian of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution 79/243. UNODC is mandated to promote the rapid entry into force of the Convention and to support Parties in its implementation. UNODC further provides technical assistance to strengthen national responses in the prevention, investigation and prosecution of crimes, and related international cooperation. The position is located in the Cybercrime and Technology Section (CTS) of the Organized Crime and Illicit Trafficking Branch (OCB) of the Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), UNODC, in Vienna. CTS is looking for an intern for its Cybercrime Convention and Intergovernmental Service Team, focusing on, inter alia, normative work, knowledge development and support to meetings. The internship is UNPAID. The intern will provide substantive, organizational and logistic support to the daily work of CTS.
Qualifications/special skills
The basic education required is HS Diploma. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. For this internship, studies in criminology, law, political or social sciences, international relations or a related field is required. Applicants should have sound analytical and drafting skills, and be literate in standard software applications, especially MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams. A demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter are desirable. A demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes the willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views, is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official United Nations language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
