Duties and Responsibilities
The Intern will be based in the United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office (UNRCO) in Ulaanbaatar and will work under the overall guidance of the United Nations Resident Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Head of RCO. The internship is conducted on an in-person basis and is unpaid. The Intern is expected to work full time (more than 34 hours per week) or under a mutually agreed flexible arrangement. Under the guidance of the supervisor, the Intern will support the following functions: 1. Support to RCO on Events and Strategic Engagements * Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of key RCO events, including those related to the Summit of the Future (with a focus on youth engagements and future generations), preparation for COP17, and other thematic initiatives. * Coordinate logistical and administrative arrangements for events, workshops, and consultations, including stakeholder consultations for Country Analysis (CA) and CF evaluation. * Support preparation of meeting agendas, minutes, assist in tracking inputs, timelines, and other coordination materials. * Provide administrative and ad hoc support as required 2. Support on AI Applications and Capacity Building * Support the RCO in identifying and applying AI tools to enhance data and knowledge management, and coordination functions. * Assist in piloting and documenting the use of AI applications for RCO workflows and reporting. * Contribute to capacity-building efforts by supporting the organization of learning sessions and knowledge-sharing on AI tools and digital innovation.
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: * Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). * Be computer literate in standard software applications. * Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and * Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
Languages
English is the working languages of the United Nations in Mongolia. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
