Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Scientific ML Software Developer Intern to join our Technology Innovation team, working on integrating cutting-edge scientific machine learning techniques with Siemens's Simcenter simulation data. You will use your solid Python programming skills to implement / validate machine learning methods applied to Siemens's scientific and engineering data.

What you will be doing
As a SciML Software Developer Intern within our Technology Innovation team, you will:

* Explore and experiment with novel SciML algorithms, including Reduced Order Modeling, neural operators, surrogate models, and data-driven methods applied to simulation data.
* Run hands-on ML experiments: prototype new approaches, benchmark them against existing methods, and analyze results to extract actionable insights.
* Develop and maintain Python packages using NumPy, pandas, SciPy, and Matplotlib for numerical analysis, data manipulation, and visualization of simulation results.
* Integrate ML techniques with data pipelines from Siemens Simcenter tools (e.g., Star CCM+ CFD data), ensuring seamless data flow and validation.
* Build REST API interfaces using FastAPI to enable interaction with the SciML Sandbox ecosystem, applying object-oriented programming principles for modular, reusable code.
* Contribute to continuous integration pipelines using GitLab CI, including writing CI scripts, managing Python packaging, and automating build processes.
* Collaborate with the team on model design, architecture, and integration requirements through code reviews and technical discussions.

What you will bring
Technical Knowledge
1. Machine learning and data science

* Hands-on experience with classical ML using scikit-learn, scipy, numpy, and pandas
* Familiarity with deep learning frameworks: PyTorch or TensorFlow
* Good data analysis practices: sampling, scaling/normalizing data, and building data pipelines
2. Object-oriented programming skills in Python

* Ability to apply OOP principles to create modular, reusable components
3. REST API design

* Experience with Pydantic and FastAPI packages is a plus
4. Linux and continuous integration pipelines

* Basic Linux commands and concepts
* Basic knowledge of CI techniques: GitLab CI scripts, Python packaging, and building

Soft Skills

* Curiosity and desire to explore new technologies
* Ability to work independently
* Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
Nice to Have

* Interest in Reduced Order Modeling (ROM), surrogate modeling, or physics-informed machine learning
