I began with no knowlege of Hebrew beyond the alphabet, but left with the ability to hold a conversation in Hebrew, as well as with basic knowledge of the grammar. being in beer-sheva, as opposed to tel-aviv or jerusalem is a definite positive in that area.

Course recommendations
The courses taught by Israeli instrucors seem to be better than the ones taught by those who are not native Israeli - it seems as if some of the professors got their jobs just because they speak English. Try to seek out the Israeli professors.

It was nice to know that if I couldn't figure something out that there was usually a way to comunicat in hebrish, but if I wanted to struggle and not have any help that was also possible
