Very open to international students, an orientation program in the beginning that I really recommend! A good communication with teachers and the international office, a good update of events, 24 hours acces to the internet, couldnīt be better!

This is an experience I wouldnīt have want to miss. If it was possible for my home university I would have stayed a whole year. I would really recommend this experience to everyone, learning about different cultures, languages, itīs just great!

Academic
Course recommendations
I choice a Global Business Program that was really interesting for my field of study īMarketing`. But I have also noticed that this doesn`t always have to be the case; I think itīs a challenge to study e.g. accountancy and follow this program. Make sure you have enough credits to satisfy your home university, that saves you a lot of trouble afterwards.

If you come to a city and have the opportunity to bring a bike with you (or buy/rent a cheap one) I would really recommend that. So much easier, you donīt have to count on the public transport that is in most cityīs just until midnight. Maybe the university can arrange such a service for their(international) students

Together with the international challenge learning languages was the main reason why I took off to Austria. I had have a lot of German grammatically but was to afraid to use it. Now I can speak it much better and I really like it to try and talk, a lot of people set you at ease and in that way Iīm not afraid anymore to make mistakes. I really suggest to know at least the basic phrases of the spoken language when you choose a country; a lot of my collegue students had difficulties to just buy a something in a store....About the lessons in English: I had have English for a long time at home and didnīt have any difficulties to understand the instructors. Though, my spoken English is really improving and that is just a really good experience.

In the nightlife case, I just went out more...So in that case itīs normal. Concerning food, I wasnīt living by myself in Belgium so I really come concious of how much meat, fruit and vegetables cost. This was a good learning experience too! Coocking for myself was in the beginning difficult but after a while I coocked together with my roomie so thatīs a lot easier than coocking for one person.

Not really, I had informed myself with a girl from my home university who studied there last year, I knew what to expect. But extra financial support from my parents was what I needed!

They arranged an appartment for me, according of my wishes (appartment, price, own room, close to school,..) and Iīm really satisfied about the service that cost 50€. If you donīt like their first choice, you can have 2 more chances so that way you can change if you donīt like the outcome; this wasnīt necessary for me! Really happy about the service!

For the international students at the Joanneum the place to gather before going out or just have a drink was the Irish Pub īFlann OīBrien`, situated in the Paradeisgasse. But other fun places to go out where situated in the Elisabethstraße, close to the University, with Gecco and Kultus as most popular places. At the Joanneum and the university there were also lotīs of partyīs in the buildings of the schools, also not to be missed!
