Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
Personal savings<br> An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:

Personal spending habits
I spent more for nightlive because it was more expensive, more for the telephone because I called people at home (which makes it more expensive, even if it is cheaper here than in Germany) and more on travel as I traveled more here in Sweden than I usually do.

To get an "normal" account you need a personnumer (id number) which you can get if/when you fill out your application for residency or you go to the bank at the market place and get an account with a personnumer which is reserved for companies. I didn't do it just withdrawed big amounts from the atms

Try to bring a personnal computer to enjoy high speed internet connection from your own room (ask transportation company for rates if you don't have a laptop computer). Buying last minute ticket whithin the train is some times cheaper if you travel with an InterCity train (not with the X2000). Stand-by airplane tickets from Stockholm is a good way to travel through Sweden (don't miss upper North of Sweden...for a sample of adventure). Check first on SAS website to have an idea of available seats for the outcoming planes before reaching the airport. Travelling is easy and Scandinavia is wonderfull!

Course recommendations
English or Swedish its your choice. Only a limited number of courses available in English, get the list from the University web site (www.liu.se). If you want to study the whole time you can, if you want to party the whole time thats your choice too. I recommed to get to know as many people as you can, if that means drinking a large quantity of Åbro (beer) well who'd be complaining! Back regarding courses, you get to take your exams again if you fail the first time. Not the case at my Uni! (not that i've ever failed!)

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
i like to live independantly, taking my own decisions with no higher control as to my movements ,my routine life. since i am a trainee orthopaedic surgeon i have odd schedule and on duty calls , i like it when there are no strict entry and exit schedules as in a hostel.

previously i had to live in the universities hostel for about twelve months and those times were harsd as it was a combined hostel both for freshies as for post grad students, so i preferred to move out as concentrating was hard to come by.

Course recommendations
Never hesitate to ask teachers, there will always be a helping hand. If you want to learn Swedish, take courses given in Swedish. Most of the courses contain laborations which give a deeper insight in the theoretical learnt, don't be afraid of these labs.

All in all it was good ... keep on going with the practical work in the labs, that ws really better than in Germany. A bit more and deeper insight in the theoretical background would have been sometimes desirable. Keep your flexibility!

I lived on a corridor with 7 other people, which was good in ways of integrating with the Swedish. I had a bathroom all for myself, a big enough room. A minor drawback was the shared kitchen, which wasn't the cleanest, but bearable and definitely enough space to store in the fridge etc. Also, no kitchen equipment was needed,we all shared, which is very convenient for an exchange student!
