Desnivel (Defensa 855 in San Telmo) - very good place where mostly locals go. Therefore it is not too expensive. It is always crowded there. Sucre (Sucre 676)- a very stylish but more expensive restaurant. Very nice decoration. A nice area for going to bars: Palermo viejo (Soul Cafe, Dominga) Happening: nice but more expensive restaurant in Puerto Madero. But very nice food... Milion (www.milion.com.ar) restaurant and bar in a beautiful building. Very nice in summer El Ateneo (Av. Santa Fe 1860): a book store in a former theater. Nice to see. There is a lovely bar on the scene where you can relax, enjoy your coffe and look through some books Museum (Perú 535): a nightclub/bar designed by Mr. Eiffel( the one who did build the Eiffel tower). Evere Wednesday good after work party

Personal comments
In Buenos Aires Housing was not too difficult to find. Normally through university you meet people who rent an apartment. Otherwise you find good offers in newspapers. The problem in Argentina is that as foreigner you always pay a higher rent than locals (due to the economic crisis a few years ago). But this is normal and has nothing to do with the university.

Personal recommendation
UADE is a great place to go. It is located quite in the city and transports are good. You can choose to take courses either in the morning or in the evening until 10pm. Although there were no on campus activities (such as sports, theater) it is easy to meet other students. They were really helpful in showing us places, going out with us or helping prepare for exams. The reason why there are no on campus activities is, that most students have their jobs. Therefore they just go to classes and don't spend additional time on campus. If you want a university with a lot of on campus activities: then UADE is not the right university for you.

As I grew up bilingual (German & Spanish) I had no communication problems. But Argentinans are very friendly with foreigners and don't mind repeating or explaining things.

Personal spending habits
In general the cost of living in Argentina is lower than before the crisis. Nevertheless as foreigner you pay higher house rent, flights and hotels than locals.

I was recommended to open a bank account at Citybank. In Argentina there are a lot of branches and you can get money from cash dispensers without paying fees. I tried also traveller cheques- nearly impossible to get rid of them.
