I went to Argentina straight from Venezuela, where my father's family lives. I feel that this allowed for me to really become acquainted with Spanish and its everyday usage. I was definitely a good communicator when I got there. And after spending time there and coming to understand the very distinctive slang of B.A., I feel that I was definitely fluent.

Hardly anyone speaks English. Spanish dominated life in Argentina. That forces you to learn the language. If anyways you plan learning the language it is a good way to make it happen.
