Although my knowledge of the language in my host countrry was not so in-depth I could make myslef understood and people were very helpful and obliging. The language of communication at the university was primarily English and I did not face any difficulties since I have been studying in England and my command of English is excellent.

It was difficult at first but after spending a few weeks in Antwerp, everything became much easier. Most people at least know english there so it really is not hard to communicate with others.

I didn't speak good English before going to Antwerp. And there, I did nto have the choice but to speak English and that's how I improved my skills. And I also met a lot of English-speaking students which was really helpful.

I was in flemish part of Belgium, so people there speak dutch as first, and french as second language. Everybody knows English but it is not the language that you read or listen hanging out for the city.
