It was generally hard to communicate with the local masses but at school it went on pretty well.

I spoke swedish, which was the reason I felt I could study in norwegian. It was at most part not an issue, only when dealing with the authorities, not in academic life. Slang was the most difficult part, but when you got used to it, it was rarely an issue. But it was hard to learn the language as we rarely had dealings with the local students and were mostly secluded into groups of international students in every situation...

Norwegians are very fluent in English, I could say at a proficiency level.Together with their wilness to help and efficiency, you will have almost no language barrer or administrative strugle to see things done :)
