I quite enjoyed the opportunity I had to hear and speak English everyday. However, it was sometimes difficult to understand local people outside the university, because of their Scottish accent. I do not think I improved a lot in understanding the Scottish accent, although I became more confident with addressing Scottish people. I regret that British students were distant with international students and mostly preferred to stay together rather than speak to us. I finally kept in touch with more international students than British ones.

I didn't have any problems with the language. I needed a week to get used to the funny Scottish accent. Don't worry if you are afraid of the Scottish pronunciation since people here are really reall nice and they'll help you all the time.

I was proficient in English to begin with, so had no real difficulties. The only thing that was sometimes difficult was understanding the Scottish accents, which with some people are quite thick.

The Scottish accent is really hard to understand at first. After a while you get used to it. My english improved a lot.
