bioMérieux is strengthening its industrial capacity to better serve its customers by establishing a new syndromic tests production unit at the La Balme-les-Grottes site.
A strategic project has been launched, which involves expertise sharing and collaboration between our American and French teams based in La Balme-les-Grottes and Grenoble.
This ambitious project offers real chances to grow professionally in an innovative and international environment.
To support the growth of our team and further develop our expertise, we are looking for our future Biochemical Production Engineer, who will report to the Manufacturing Leader in the Operations Workpackage.
This position is based in Salt Lake City for 12 months, in VIE, starting July 2026, followed by involvement in the project at the La Balme site.
What will your responsibilities be?
You will join a dynamic project team dedicated to transferring products from the FilmArray® and SpotFire® ranges, responding to technical requests related to the production of semi-finished goods in the "Biochem" sector.
You will be integrated into the technical team responsible for production in the "Biochem" sector. This role is a unique opportunity to gain expertise in technical processes and U.S. quality standards, in preparation for transferring and implementing these activities at the La Balme site.
This strategic position directly contributes to future industrial quality and performance.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Leader and working closely with project teams, your main responsibilities will include:
* Understand the manufacturing process for FilmArray® and SpotFire® pouches.
* Learn the production processes for semi-finished goods in the "Biochem" sector and becoming familiar with the equipment and technologies used (LC/MS, liquid handling platforms).
* Train on all manufacturing and analysis steps within the "Biochem" sector to acquire on-site technical skills and prepare for setting up the corresponding production area in France.
* Participate in deviation and non-conformity analysis.
* Be trained and involved in troubleshooting technical issues and implementing corrective actions.
* Learn and contribute to workflow organization, coordinating tests, and ensuring traceability of operations.
* Participate in process optimization and validation initiatives.
* Document best practices and methods learned to prepare knowledge transfer to the French site.
* Assist in drafting future procedures in French for this activity upon return to France.
* Analyze the current organization to help design future production areas in France and provide expertise for the "Biochem" part.
Who Are You?
* Master's or Engineering Degree in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, biology, or related field
* Initial experience in industrial role in expected
* Experience in a chemistry/biochemistry laboratory is preferred, particularly with knowledge of LC/MS technologies
* Familiarity with FilmArray® and SpotFire® product ranges would be a plus
* Ability to analyze results, identify anomalies, and propose solutions
* Ability to write technical documents: reports, manufacturing procedures, training materials
* Proficient with IT tools (databases, spreadsheets, word processing)
* Versatile to manage priorities and organize multiple projects simultaneously
* Strong interpersonal skills, proactivity, and a collaborative mindset for multidisciplinary and project-based work
* Strong analytical and synthesis skills
* Excellent communication and teaching skills: able to convey information clearly and effectively within the team and across departments
* Languages: English - Fluent (minimum B2), both written and spoken; French - fluent
