Responsibilities

Tamil Media Scholarship - offered by Mediacorp, supported by MDDI

Dedicated to nurturing the next generation of Tamil media professionals, the Tamil Media Scholarship focuses on developing strong capabilities in news reporting, storytelling, and audience engagement. We are looking for passionate individuals who are keen to navigate the challenges of the digital era and make a meaningful impact in the media industry.

About The Scholarship

Mediacorp, with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), is proud to introduce the Tamil Media Scholarship. This initiative is designed to nurture aspiring Tamil newsroom professionals in Singapore.

The scholarship provides recipients with academic support, structured mentorship, and hands-on industry exposure to prepare them for a career in Tamil journalism. Through this programme, we aim to develop journalists who uphold the highest standards of accuracy, integrity, and public service, while contributing meaningfully to the Tamil-speaking community.

Academic Eligibility

The Scholarship Is Open To Singaporean Talents Who Are

* Commencing full-time undergraduate studies in 2026, or
* Currently pursuing full-time undergraduate degrees in any field of study, except medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, architecture, or law

Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate:

* A strong academic record from Secondary School, ITE, Polytechnic, Junior College, or International Baccalaureate
* A keen news sense and strong interest in local and international news and current affairs
* Good command of the Tamil language, both written and spoken
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team
* Leadership qualities demonstrated through Co-Curricular Activities and National Service, where applicable
* A commitment to high standards of accuracy, objectivity, and timeliness
* Singapore citizenship or Singapore permanent residency

Scholarship Coverage

Successful Applicants Will Receive

* Coverage of tuition fees and other compulsory university fees
* A one-time allowance for university-related expenses
* Support for an approved overseas exchange programme
* Internship opportunities within the Mediacorp Newsroom

Scholarship Obligation and Career Pathways

Recipients will be required to serve a bond with Mediacorp, which includes a secondment to the Translation Department at MDDI.

Upon completion of their studies, scholars will be deployed to the Mediacorp Tamil Newsroom, with a secondment to MDDI's Translation Department. Scholars, together with high-performing talent at Mediacorp, will have the opportunity to build a rewarding career with diverse development pathways across journalism and media.
