The job is a member of the International Accounting team, supporting Canada operations. This role is responsible for supporting accounting activities across multiple business operations. The position works closely with cross functional teams to ensure accounting activities are appropriately analyzed, processed, and documented in compliance with internal controls, established processes and procedures, and applicable local regulations. The role supports timely close activities, statutory requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
What you'll do

* Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and related journal entries
* Process and prepare multiple tax and statistical filings including municipal, federal, and withholding requirements
* Coordinate with external accounting firms and internal partners to support books compliance and financial reporting needs
* Oversee month end accounts payable close activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness
* Liaise with vendors, operational teams, and headquarters to resolve discrepancies and respond to payment and tax related inquiries
* Manage multiple projects simultaneously while setting deadlines and adjusting priorities as needed
* Review and apply accounting policies, internal controls, auditing requirements, and applicable tax regulations
* Support audits, ad hoc projects, and ongoing initiatives with follow through to completion
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
* Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent education or training
* Fluently read, write, and speak English
* Ability to work flexible hours as needed
Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
* Qualified or Part Qualified CPA, or equivalent
* Knowledge of tax laws and local reporting requirements
* Previous experience within an international accounting environment
* Experience within the airline industry
Skills, Licenses, and Certifications
* Demonstrated knowledge of SAP
* Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
* Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
* Ability to deal with confidential subject matter
