At NN Group's international head office in The Hague, you will join the Sustainability & Social Impact (Group SSI) team and help shape NN Group's responsible investment approach in practice. In this lead role, you will work at the intersection of sustainability, investments, stewardship and stakeholder engagement. You will lead together with your counterpart at the NN Investment Office the development and implementation of responsible investment policies and positions, support issue management on sensitive ESG topics, and help translate external expectations into clear internal guidance, reporting and action. Functionally leading the more junior members, you will oversee the roadmaps on RI within Group SSI. Furthermore, you will be overseeing, advising and collaborating with internal teams at BUs to embed ESG policies into investment portfolios. You will collaborate closely with the NN Investment Office, Business Units and corporate functions, and engage with external stakeholders such as NGOs, peers, industry initiatives and other relevant organisations where needed.
As a Responsible Investment Lead, you will play a key role in:
* Developing and guiding NN Group's responsible investment policies, positions and related guidance across key sustainability themes
* Overseeing stewardship-related work, issue management and engagement on complex or sensitive responsible investment topics, including coordination across internal and external stakeholders
* Strengthening responsible investment reporting, disclosures, benchmark and rating input, and internal materials for governance, decision-making and stakeholder communication
What you are going to do
* Develop, maintain and execute on responsible investment policies, standards, position papers and internal guidance, in close collaboration with subject matter experts and internal stakeholders
* Guide the organisation on responsible investment topics by providing analysis, content and advice on external developments, stakeholder expectations, controversies, engagement cases and market practice
* Functionally lead other RI colleagues within SSI
* Monitor and analyse developments in ESG regulation, responsible investment frameworks, benchmarks, ratings and wider societal expectations, and translate these into practical recommendations and actions for NN Group
* Steer stewardship-related activities, including issue management, engagement preparation, internal alignment and drafting materials for governance or decision-making on sensitive investment-related topics
* Prepare and coordinate content for internal and external reporting, disclosures, annual reporting, benchmarks, ratings, presentations and stakeholder communications related to responsible investment
* Build and maintain effective working relationships across NN Group and interact with external stakeholders, such as NGOs, collaborative initiatives, peers and other relevant parties in the responsible investment ecosystem

Who you are
You bring solid experience in responsible investment, sustainability and/or ESG-related work in a complex environment, ideally at the intersection of policy, investments and stakeholder engagement. You communicate clearly and based on sound analysis and data, in order to shape and tell the story, engage with peers internally and externally, and you get things done. You are comfortable translating complex and sometimes sensitive topics into practical guidance, reporting and decision-useful materials.
You are proactive, collaborative and intellectually curious. You know how to work effectively across functions and with a broad range of stakeholders, including on topics that are internally, reputationally or strategically sensitive. You bring structure, discretion and a strong sense of ownership. We prefer candidates with the following experience and skill sets:
* A strong understanding of responsible investment, stewardship, sustainability and the broader ESG landscape, including how stakeholder expectations influence investment-related policies and practices
* Relevant experience (+10 years) in responsible investment, sustainability, governance, issue management, stakeholder engagement and/or investment-related ESG work
* Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
* Organisational awareness, proven track record in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders with (sometimes conflicting) priorities Experience in leading teams (functionally)
* Experience with responsible investment policies, benchmarks, ratings, disclosures, regulatory developments and/or engagement with external stakeholders such as NGOs or collaborative initiatives is a strong advantage
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Dutch is a strong advantage
Who you will work with
You will be part of the Sustainability & Social Impact department, directly reporting to the head of SSI. Group SSI is a centre of expertise within the head office of NN Group, and responsible for providing strategic vision and direction, policy development, target setting, oversight, stakeholder engagement, and reporting, in all areas of sustainability and social impact. The department (approx. 25 colleagues) consists of three specialised teams: Business, Planning & Reporting and Community Investment.
