About the role
As a Trainee Draughtsperson, you will play a key role in supporting our Design & Engineering function by producing high-quality 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings for use across tendering, construction, and as-built project stages. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Estimating Teams, you'll help translate technical information into accurate, compliant drawings that meet both client and legislative standards. You'll gain hands-on experience across multiple projects, maintaining drawing records, completing composite route drawings, and using tools such as Trimble GPS to convert site data into precise CAD outputs. This role offers an excellent development pathway for someone with strong attention to detail, a passion for technical drawing, and the drive to build a career in the engineering and utilities sector.
What you'll be doing
* Create, modify and manage 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings to support Operational Teams (Project Managers, Project Engineers), Cabling System Engineering Design Teams and Estimating Teams.
* Produce high-quality drawings for tendering, construction and as-built stages, ensuring adherence to required timescales.
* Work with multiple clients, producing drawings that comply with their specific standards.
* Assist the draughtsman as required.
* Liaise closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers and Estimators.
* Create and maintain drawing records/registers.
* Complete composite route drawings.
* Use Trimble GPS systems (or similar) to transpose collated site data into accurate as-built CAD drawings, ensuring precise plotting and coordinate recording.
* Ensure all work produced is of high quality and compliant with strict client and-where relevant; legislative specification.
Who we're looking for
Essential
* Strong understanding of AutoCAD software.
* Ability to work to strict deadlines.
* Confidence working with a broad range of teams, as well as independently.
* Experience working with grid reference coordinates.
* High attention to detail and strong awareness of required quality standards.
Desirable
* C&G Level 2 Certificate in CAD (enrolled or complete).
* ECITB SAFE Passport (complete).
* BEAM Training.
* Experience using Google Earth Pro.
* Understanding of the electrical industry.
