This position is for a Manufacturing Engineer Co-op that will work at the OEM aero nozzle manufacturing facility in West Des Moines, IA. This position is for a student seeking an experience in using engineering principles in a manufacturing environment. If selected, the employee will become familiar with Collins Aerospace products, manufacturing objectives and state of the art manufacturing techniques.

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May/June- December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).

What You Will Do:
* Use of SolidWorks CAD to develop tools that enable manufacturing, aid process improvement or address safety concerns.
* Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control through the application of Lean principles.
* Solve Manufacturing Engineering problems of varying levels of complexity.
* Create assembly work instructions utilizing Microsoft Office.
* Assist in resolving quality, productivity and safety turnbacks for Manufacturing Engineering.

What You Will Learn:
* A variety of processes required for the manufacturing of gas turbine engine fuel nozzles in a fast passed aerospace manufacturing environment.
* Processes you will be exposed to are Welding (laser, TIG and Resistance), Vacuum Brazing, Heat Treat, EDM, Laser Marking, Non-Destructive Testing, Assembly and Test.
* Skills for working in a cross functional team environment with exposure to design engineering, quality engineering, performance development, materials engineering and operations management.
* Skills required to become full time manufacturing engineer at Collins Engine Nozzles.

Qualifications You Must Have:
* Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
* U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:
* Machining and/or assembly experience through work or school experiences including fixture design, tooling design and Geometric Dimensioning/Tolerancing schooling or experience (GD&T) a plus.
* Knowledge of 3D printing for tools and/or fixtures.
* CAD Design experience, SolidWorks is a strong plus.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
