Commercial Graduate Associate - Sales Academy based in Kuala Lumpur

The Sales Academy Trainee Program is a 1-year structured rotational program designed to develop the next generation of commercial talent in the medical technology industry. The trainee will gain foundational and hands-on experience in medical device sales, including product knowledge, clinical applications, market dynamics, sales methodologies, and end-to-end commercial operations across Smith+Nephew's businesses.
This program combines structured learning with real-world exposure through
business unit rotations followed by commercial and operational immersion
What will you be doing?
Phase 1: Intensive Business Unit Product Training & Rotation.
* Participate in structured onboarding and learning curriculum across assigned business units.
* Develop working knowledge of Product portfolios and value propositions, Clinical workflows and application fundamentals Customer segments, stakeholders, and buying processes.
* Support sales leaders and teams with: Call preparation and post-call follow-ups, Product and clinical learning assignments, basic reporting, analysis, and opportunity tracking.
Phase 2: Commercial & Operational Immersion
* Objective: Apply learning in real selling environments, contribute to commercial execution, and understand end-to-end business operations.
The trainee will:
Marketing / Campaign Support
* Actively support marketing initiatives, campaigns, and projects (e.g., events, launches, educational programs).
* Assist in compiling market insights, feedback, and campaign learnings to improve execution.
Sales Collaboration (Field Exposure)
* Collaborate with existing sales teams to execute sales activities, including:
* Shadowing customer visits and joint calls (as appropriate)
* Supporting case coverage and pre-/post-case preparation (where relevant)
* Assisting lead generation and opportunity qualification
* Supporting customer education initiatives and follow-ups
Business Operations Exposure
* Support essential business operations such as:
* Sales administration and coordination
* Order and delivery coordination (as needed)
* Basic supply chain-related support activities
* Documentation support aligned to internal compliance processes
What will you need to be successful?
Success in the role will requires a combination of technical knowledge, soft skills, and a deep understanding of both the business and service-providing sides of an organization.
Successful candidates would need the following:
* Fresh graduate with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Business, Science, Nursing/Biomedical/Engineering, Life Sciences, Marketing, or related disciplines.
* Strong interest in sales/commercial career within the medical technology industry.
