Intern in Protein Engineering (all genders)

The Protein Engineering Group is part of the Pharmaceuticals Division of Bayer AG. We work across the company to optimize enzymes for biocatalytic drug production on industrial scale. We also engineer enzymes for special technologies, from pharmaceutical research to applications in plants. As part of our projects, we offer students (all genders) in their master's program the opportunity to gain practical experience and apply specialist knowledge they have acquired during their studies so far in an innovative, future-oriented field.

YOUR TASKS AND EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

* You will work on exciting and future-oriented projects in which enzymes are given the necessary performance through protein engineering technologies. You will support our project teams with tasks in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, biocatalysis, next-generation sequencing, automation and analytics

* You will contribute to the establishment, optimization and implementation of enzymatic and biocatalytic assays in high-throughput formats

* You will provide molecular biology support for the establishment of microbial expression systems and the generation of complex enzyme libraries

* You will evaluate experimental data and interpret the results

* You will gain insights into industrial biotechnology processes

WHO YOU ARE

* You are currently enrolled in your master's program in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or a related field

* You have first hands-on experience in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology or HPLC analysis. Experience in biocatalysis, microbiology or molecular biology is an advantage

* You have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

* You are highly motivated to learn

* You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary and intercultural team

* Good written and spoken English skills complete your profile; German language skills are a plus
