This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with lead researchers in our Geospatial and Mobile Computing groups, moving beyond the classroom to run high-stakes field experiments. You will get hands-on experience calibrating and testing advanced hardware prototypes, including laser distance devices and inertial measurement units, providing you with deep insight into the R&D lifecycle of professional-grade technology.

Key Exciting Responsibilities
* Build and utilise hardware and software prototypes to execute complex field experiments while logging critical sensor data.
* Contribute to the precision of global technology by assisting in the calibration of sophisticated sensors and systems.
* Test and report on the performance of emerging technologies, including LiDAR, camera sensors, and GNSS receivers.
* Collaborate closely with lead researchers to document findings and iterate on new technical concepts.
* Participate in professional growth opportunities, including lunch and learns and social networking events with a vibrant intern community.

Essential Skills & Experience
* Currently pursuing a degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
* Highly organised and persistent with a genuine willingness to engage in hands-on field work.
* Ability to think critically and work independently while maintaining a collaborative communication style.
* Natural inquisitiveness and a drive to experiment with new and emerging technologies.
* Must be legally authorised to work in New Zealand.

Bonus Points For
* Familiarity with accelerometer and gyroscope sensors or embedded systems.
* Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C++ and C#.
* Experience with Android, WebApp development, or Machine Learning concepts.
