Our team focuses on analyzing and optimizing AI workloads for both current and next-generation GPU hardware.
We work closely with the OpenVINO framework, developing new features and graph-level optimizations to push performance toward theoretical hardware limits.
In parallel, we collaborate in a pre-silicon environment with hardware architects and simulation teams to validate upcoming GPU designs and provide early performance insights.
We are seeking a highly motivated AI Software Engineering Intern to join our team. In this role, you will analyze and optimize AI model performance on Windows and Linux platforms, leverage GPU hardware to accelerate compute, and work cross-functionally with software and hardware architecture teams. Your work will directly influence GPU performance, software capabilities, and future product directions.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyze and optimize AI models from GPU efficiency perspective using post- and pre-silicon tools.
* Contribute to the development of the software stack written in Python and C++.
* Implement and optimize GPU kernels with help of parallel programming languages.
* Document code and analysis processes clearly and thoroughly.

Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications:
* Current student status and availability to remain student during the length of our internship
* Solid programming skills in C++ and Python
* Coursework or hands-on projects using popular AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or openVINO
* Basic understanding of how neural network architectures map to hardware-accelerated inference (e.g., GPUs, NPUs, or specialized accelerators)
* Interest or initial experience in AI hardware accelerators, GPU programming, or heterogeneous computing
* Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and high attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
* Understanding of parallel programming concepts or introductory experience with GPU programming (e.g., CUDA, OpenCL, threading, multiprocessing)
* Familiarity with GPU profiling or debugging tools (e.g., NVIDIA Nsight, CUDA Toolkit, clintercept)
* Experience working with Git and collaborative coding workflows (GitHub, GitLab, etc.)
* Previous AI/ML class projects, personal projects, or participation in hackathons or research groups

The group is responsible for developing the holistic strategy for client and data center software in collaboration with OSVs, ISVs, developers, partners and OEMs. The group delivers specialized NPU IP to enable the AI PC and GPU IP to support all of Intel's market segments. The group also has HW and SW engineering experts responsible for delivering IP, SOCs, runtimes, and platforms to support the CPU and GPU/accelerator roadmap, inclusive of integrated and discrete graphics.
