Position Overview
We are seeking an AI Scientist Intern (Speech Processing/Automated Speech Assessment) to support research and prototyping work in the area of automated speech processing for educational applications. This internship is designed around a bounded, standalone task with regular mentoring and check-ins. The intern will contribute to speech data processing, training and evaluation of machine learning models, literature review, and early-stage prototyping. This is a strong fit for a student with academic experience in machine learning and deep learning who is interested in applying these skills to speech-related AI problems.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the processing and preparation of speech data for machine learning experiments.
* Contribute to the training, evaluation, and comparison of proof-of-concept machine learning models.
* Review relevant literature and help translate research findings into prototype ideas and experimental directions.
* Document experiment results, findings, and recommendations for future work.
* Work on a clearly scoped task with regular guidance from experienced mentors.
Expected Deliverables
* Trained proof-of-concept models related to automated speech processing or automated speech assessment.
* Evaluation reports summarising methodology, results, and limitations.
* Clear documentation of findings, implementation notes, and recommendations for future work.
Required Qualifications
* Academic familiarity with Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
* Good programming skills in Python.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work in a structured way on an independently scoped task while engaging in regular mentoring check-ins.
* Proficiency in English and Polish.
Preferred Qualifications / Nice to Have
* Prior academic or project experience with speech data or speech-related machine learning problems.
* Familiarity with one or more of the following tools or libraries: spaCy, pandas, MLflow.
* Exposure to processing unstructured data.
* Familiarity with experiment tracking, reproducible workflows, or model evaluation practices.
