About the role
As an Accounts Payable Trainee, you will join Essity's Global Business Services team in Lisbon, supporting accounts payable activities for the US and Canada. This is a hands-on learning opportunity where you will gain exposure to core finance processes while working closely with experienced professionals in an international setting.
You will be part of a collaborative Finance team within our Business Shared Service Centre, where accuracy, teamwork, and continuous improvement are key. Throughout the traineeship, you will develop a strong understanding of the end-to-end accounts payable cycle, internal controls, and stakeholder collaboration, while building a solid foundation for a future career in finance.
What You Will Do
* Invoice Processing: Support the processing and validation of supplier invoices in line with internal guidelines and service level agreements.
* Supplier Statements: Review and process supplier statements, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
* Stakeholder Support: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to respond to queries and support smooth day-to-day operations.
* General Ledger Support: Assist with basic general ledger reconciliations and accounting activities.
* Internal Controls: Participate in key internal control activities to ensure compliance and process integrity.
* Process Learning: Observe and learn best practices by shadowing experienced colleagues across accounts payable activities.
Who You Are
* You are currently pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
* You have a strong interest in finance operations and are motivated to learn about accounts payable processes in a global environment.
* You are comfortable working with MS Office tools and are keen to develop your technical and analytical skills.
* You bring strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, good time management, and the ability to work accurately while meeting deadlines.
* You are comfortable communicating in English, both written and spoken, to collaborate with international teams.
