Position Summary
WWF seeks an Freshwater Metrics Intern for the Freshwater Metrics Team. Successful candidate will support the technical team with our work in the Rio Grande-Bravo basin. The Freshwater Metrics team is a cross-cutting team that focuses on transforming the way stakeholders create and act on sustainability programs leading to impact in WWF's priority waterscapes. In this role, you will have a unique end to end exposure to the scientific development, communications, education, and science policy required to work effectively in a place. You will 1) support thought leadership related to the basin; and 2) expose gaps in the implementation, in particular with respect to science policy.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:
* Support the FW Metrics team in developing briefs and analyzing data to support our work in the Rio Grande-Bravo;
* Mapping current guidance as it relates to implementation of the nature based solutions;
* Identify disconnects in policy and implementation;
* Propose solutions to close this disconnect;
* You will experience the cross-cutting collaboration of our team, providing a broad perspective to solving today's greatest water challenges.
* This is a unique opportunity to engage with experts driving impacts for water security on the ground, and guidance setting agencies to deliver credible science-based solutions.
* You will report to the Sr. Director, FW Metrics and US Waterscapes, and support the development of integrated strategies to transform the way our water resources are managed globally.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
* Only enrolled students are eligible for this internship as you must be able to receive academic credit from your current academic institution. Able to work either part time or full time, depending on class schedule and availability.
* Undergraduate in good standing pursuing a bachelor's degree in environmental science and policy or other applied science field;
* Must be actively enrolled student and not received degree at time of internship;

Preferred Requirements
* Desire to pursue environmental law and policy, especially as it relates to water resources management.
Compensation:
Unpaid. For all unpaid internships, applicants must be enrolled in school and be able to obtain academic course credit from their university.
