Master Thesis about Optimal Trajectory Generation for Multiple Aircraft in Formation Flight (d/f/m)

Your tasks and responsibilities
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
1. Literature review on large-scale optimization and bi-level/distributed optimal control
2. Analysis of available algorithms to assign positions in formation and structures to set up
the problem
3. Problem setup
a. Aircraft models of different fidelities (point mass and rigid-body; planar/3D
motion)
b. Constraint specification
c. Cost function for trajectory optimization and formation flight problem
4. Implementation of algorithm functionalities including consideration of code generation
capability
5. Testing of different scenarios comprising e.g.
a. Two and more aircraft in planar scenario
b. Two and more aircraft in 3D motion
c. Connection of trajectories between multiple waypoints
d. Uncertainties (like sensor noise) influencing the trajectories
6. Visualization in available environment
7. Documentation and presentation of results
Desired skills and qualifications
* Enrolled full time student (d/f/m) in aerospace engineering, control system engineeringor similar field of study
* Theoretical knowledge on flight dynamics and control laws design
* MATLAB/Simulink: Experienced
* FORTRAN or C/C++: Basic knowledge
* LINUX: Basic knowledge
* English fluent
