Job Description:
Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving plant productivity, efficiency, and reliability. You will be responsible for optimizing production processes, leading engineering projects, and driving CAPEX initiatives to support continuous improvement in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
You will work closely with the Engineering & Maintenance Manager and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence, safety, and compliance across the plant.

SodaStream NLC focuses on refilling and distributing CO₂ cylinders, as well as packaging and distributing SodaStream products across the European market. The site operates under strict safety, quality, food, and environmental standards.
Safety & Compliance
* Ensure a safe working environment in line with company policies and regulations
* Identify and proactively mitigate safety risks
* Work with approved materials and implement proper MSDS and PPE processes
* Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and quality standards
Operations & Engineering
* Improve production processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs
* Manage engineering projects, including procurement and installation of new equipment
* Optimize manufacturing processes and support infrastructure implementation
* Identify process failures and implement corrective actions
* Provide technical support and resolve recurring production issues
* Collaborate with global teams to benchmark and implement best practices
* Work with external suppliers and technical partners
* Support spare parts strategy and equipment reliability
* Coordinate training programs for new equipment
Technical Expertise
* Create and interpret technical drawings (e.g., SolidWorks)
* Review mechanical and electrical schematics
* Develop and present business cases for engineering investments
* Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
Additional Responsibilities
* Maintain cleanliness and organization in production areas
* Monitor and report KPIs and project progress
* Support environmental and safety initiatives (QESH)
* Travel internationally when required
Qualifications
* Education: HBO-level degree in Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
* Experience: 5-10 years as a mechanical engineer in a food production environment; experience with industrial hygiene is preferred.
* Language: Excellent command of English (spoken and written). Dutch is also a plus.
* Strong project management and problem-solving skills
* Knowledge of process optimization and industrial equipment
* Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
* Familiarity with safety, quality, and environmental regulations
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Proactive, hands-on mindset
